Avast Free Antivirus is one of the most popular antivirus choices among users from all around the world. You can get it simply by downloading it for free on their website. The free version is not short on extensions and add-ons either!
You can choose to install a VPN, system cleanup tools, a secure browser, and so on. You can easily install or uninstall these components at any time. It comes with a modern, redesigned UI which can adapt to any version of Windows.
Stepping up to premium tiers
One of the major qualities we would like to point out regarding this program is that you don't actually need to purchase the paid versions to keep your computer fully protected. Upgrading to the subscription-based Avast Premium Security adds an advanced firewall, webcam protection, and extra privacy layers. There is an Ultimate edition as well for users in need of a comprehensive security suite.
Reliable scanning with a sensitive trigger
Avast Free Antivirus does pretty well when it comes to malware recognition and scanning. It can successfully defend you even from threats which were never before seen online and that can't be recognized through signature scanning. Still, it has a problem with false positives, and there are plenty of users complaining about how the antivirus prevents them from using certain programs properly.
Noticeable impact on system performance
On top of that, its system performance impact is not to be forgotten. It tends to occupy more system resources than its competition, which is definitely one of the more important traits of such a tool.
